History
In the late 19th century, players used soccer balls to play football.
they were replaced with rugby-type balls that were slightly oblong which
allowed the carrier to better grasp the ball while running. Modern day
footballs emerged around 1906 to make it more aerodynamic when American
football rules were changed to allow the forward pass. Contrary to popular
belief, footballs in general were never made of pigskin leather. However,
earlier football models contained inner bladders which were made from pigs'
stomach. |
