A game played on a rectangular field with net goals at either end in which two teams of 11 players each try to drive a ball into the other's goal by kicking, heading, or using any part of the body except the arms and hands. The goalie is the only player who may touch or move the ball with the arms or hands.

The ground is rectangular sheltered with grass or imitation turf and there is a goal in the center of each of the short tops. The aim of the game is to score into the conflicting goal. The players are not permitted to use their arms or hands (except the goalkeepers). A typical football game takes ninety minutes in total but the time is separated by two halves of 45 minutes each with a break of 15 minutes in between.
